On the third part of your Silk Road journey, you will follow the Silk Road from Iran, through Turkmenistan and on to Uzbekistan. You will cross regions where many great civilisations from East and West met, traded and did battle. Alexander the Great of Macedonia, the Persian Empire, Genghis Khan and Tamerlaine made history and left behind a lasting legacy of culture and language.

An in-depth tour of three countries, this adventurous overland trip involves a lot of travelling and some of the hotels in the remoter parts of Turkmenistan can be basic. The border crossing between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan involves a long walk. Allow plenty of time to obtain the visas.
