Thien Tri Tomb, Hue
The traditional religious, cultural and educational centre of Vietnam, Hue is built upon the banks of the Perfume River. Taking a long tailed dragon boat along the Perfume River, to the famed Thien Mu Pagoda and Monastery, will show you a view of Hue you might otherwise might have missed.
The Monastery is now home to a small group practicing monks and nuns.
One of the most interesting buildings in Vietnam is the magnificent Imperial Citadel, built for Emperor Gia Longin in the early 19th century.
The citadel accommodates many fascinating sights, some of the many highlights are; the Halls of the Mandarins, the Ngo Mon Gate and the Nine Holy Cannons.
A short drive to the south of Hue, are the elegant Royal Tombs of the Nguyen emperors who ruled from1802-1945. Although most of the tombs are of similar design, the tomb of Tu Duc is of particular note. Designed by Tu Duc himself, for use before as well as after his death, the forested area is one of complete serenity.
