A further branch of the fabled Silk Road connected China and Pakistan, along which cloth, spices and other precious materials moved between East and West. Following this original route, the Karakorum Highway is the highest paved international road on earth and runs from Islamabad to Kashgar. This exciting journey will take you through some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in the world, crossing the Khunjerab Pass into China, which at an altitude of 4,694m is the highest paved border crossing in the world.
