This fertile area just outside Sana’a, is a popular destination for locals and at weekends and wedding, parties often find their way here to continue celebrations. There are some good viewpoints over the now dry wadi and of particular interest is Dar al-Hajar Palace. This was constructed as a summer palace for Imam Yahya in 1920 and juts straight up from a rock in a particularly dramatic fashion. Often photographed it has become something of a national symbol for the country and inside there is a small museum.
