Wahiba Sands

Al-Sharqiya Desert
The Wahiba Sands are one of the country’s most splendid desert areas where dunes blown by the wind rise up over 100m. The splendid isolation and spectacular colours of the ever changing hues of sand make this a fantastic place to go and experience the silent beauty of the desert
The sands are home to the Bedu, nomadic tribesmen who roam the land with goats and camels and are often seen by those who venture into this inhospitable place. Interestingly enough, the Bedouin women of this region have a high status and wear distinctive brightly coloured clothes. The best way to experience this area is to drive right through it in a 4WD vehicle and camp out under a 180 degree vista of stars next to a Bedouin fire.
