Wonsan is on the East Sea 200km east of Pyongyang and is an important port city. It is famous as the place where the USS Pueblo was taken when it was captured in January 1968. It has the appearance of a fairly modern city but is quite pleasant with a number of parks.

Nearby is Chonsam co-operative farm which showcases North Korea’s socialist agricultural policies.
